Can anyone tell me if the 781 heads are any good.
Bbc 781 heads any good.
But i did notice that they had a pass x cast in amongst the rocker arms.
Building a 468 going in an 84 chevy pickup 454 bored 060 4 bolt main with stock crank and rods with flat top pistons and a set of ported 781 s cut for 2 19 1 88 valves.
A real torque monster motor not so much high reving.
So chevy heads are alittle of a mystery to me.
Used info gained here and from morgan cd but had to let the bowl area get smaller 88 before i started the short turn.
The 781 s have the most unshrouded chambers of all the oem bbc heads ever offered this makes installing 2 250 or 2 300.
I got home and looked at mine and the just say pass without the x.
I know bbc s are full of all kinds of misleading stuff hi perf pass etc.
Anyone have any info on these heads.
I don t think larry could have done any better unless he ported the heads for free.

I sold my w30 this summer that ihad for 18 years since high school.
Putting on brodix race rite oval port heads on my bbc and don t need the cast heads but don t know what if there is any real value to them.
Whats the specs on these heads and are they any good.
They are 781 castings and have 2 19 and 1 88 valves springs for hyd roller cam guide plates and some porting done to them.
I have seen the 781 s crack but only in severe applications.
I have heard good things about them other than my compression won t be very high.
Are the square rectangle or oval.

I have a casting 14092359 on a set of bbc heads that were given to me.
You can achieve 320 340 cfm on good direction ports.
Dual plane air gap and a 770 street avenger.
