Standard barn door sizes most barn door sizes fall anywhere between 36 wide on the shorter side by 96 tall on the longer side.
Barn door height from floor.
For instance if you have a doorway that s 35 you ll want a track that s at least 70 although a safe 6ft.
That would be too high.
Once you ve established your desired door size.
In this example the total height is 80 once mounted the door will hang 1 off the floor which will add the bit of coverage you need at the top of the opening.
Make sure that you are centering your handles somewhere in this range.
Generally most standard barn doors are approximately 36 x 84 or 42 x 80 with enough extra lip to overlap most standard door frames 36 x 80 by an inch or so.
Always remember that your barn door railing system should be at least double the width of your door frame possibly longer if you have an odd shaped door.
Again for doorways with moldings measure from the top edge.
For the door height we recommend measuring from the floor to the top of the opening.
Measure from the header to the floor to determine the door length you need.
Ideally the door will cover 2 to 3 inches beyond the opening on each side.
To figure out what size track you need double your final width measurement.
